This will be very difficult for anyone to understand just how the Duravi Staff and Technology has proven itself to myself and within our facilities without visiting and viewing the operations at our South Point Facility. These applications push Conventional Lubricants to their limits and beyond. The extreme weights, Metal to Metal contact, Friction, and Harsh conditions far exceed the capabilities of any line of lubricants with their friction modifiers. I began working with Howie Damron in 2005 due to our T-Rail tracks peeling and destructing during Barge pulls from the river and thru our automated Blast and paint facility. Howie introduced his Technology as a possible solution to our friction problem. The Technology (Duravi) solved a very severe problem and its sustainability far exceeds any other lubricant product line. The pressure and friction of 1400 tons of rolling steel on steel rails presented problems that only Duravi could answer and resolve. Because of these amazing results we treated our Crane engines, Crane boom hoist assemblies, Drive chains, our steel chains in our blast and paint area that pull the barges through the blasting area.
We then moved on to our hydraulic units to solve a heating and failure problem, we applied Duravi and archived great results. We also added the Duravi grease to our bearings on our wheel carts used to support and move the barges and immediately achieved great results (stopped frequent bearing failures). One of our combustion Diesel engines in a Linkbelt crane started losing power and smoking on a job, we found engine coolant blowing out of the dipstick tube. We drained several gallons of coolant out of the oil pan and started the engine back up. The engine ran like nothing ever happened with just a slight trace of smoke. We finished this job which took another 30 days and would have to shut down almost on a daily basis to drain engine coolant from the oil pan and Changed the oil once during this period, I have trusted this product 100% after this incident.
Since 2005 we have experienced countless seemingly impossible results with this product and its Mechanical Science Technology. The performance is of course very important but its sustainability since 2005 has proven to us that the savings due to downtime, replacement of failed parts and aftermarket lubricants is unimaginable. Lubrication is essential to our operation due to the massive tons moving throughout our facility. Every grease and lube we tried died out quickly or became saturated. Wear and corrosion quickly became enemy #1. Prior to 2005, all our applications were falling prey to downtime and costly equipment replacements. There was no grease or lube we have not tried, but the friction forces driven by weights exceeding 2500 tons coupled with environmental issues proved great losses to our operation.
In 2005, Les Lore was seeing tremendous success through consulting with Howie Damron and his Duravi technology. Les suggested we try the Duravi blended grease in our Trolly Carriage that submerges out and under the Ohio River within the l40-10 inch Timken railway carts. These bearings proved impossible to present any measurable sustainability due to water, mud, sand, and weights from the barges loaded on the trolley. Once loaded, the cable pulled up an 18% incline on 5 sets of railroad tracks within 35 rail carts all according to the size of the barges. At times, they're as big as a football field. The dangers are at a maximum level, staying far away from the entire unit. Five steel cables pulling extreme weight. In order to make the pulls, greasing these bearings was at least twice per day. We were losing these bearings at times as much as 5 per month.
The losses prior to 2005 were the costs for replacements, tremendous downtime in production, labor, and the risk to safety. We began using the Duravi blended grease within all the bearings and within days, we began to see tremendous results. The bearings were not extracting water during greasing. They were not heating up during pulls. We stopped losing bearings. As time went on, the bearings were using less grease and the water was hardly coming out. Failures on the bearings decreased. The greasing intervals went from 2 times a day to once or twice a month. We had finally found true sustainability for the Trolley carriage. From 300-ton to 2400-ton loads, the bearings were holding. It’s very difficult to understand the superiority of the Duravi until you take time and visit our operation. I am quite sure you will leave with confidence that the Duravi product line will work.

Computers and cell phones have changed our lives with amazing advancements in productivity. What I have witnessed of equal proportion to computers and cell phones is the advanced reliability and reduced costs of production and maintenance in nearly every type of machinery with the use of Duravi. It provides simply the most impressive advancement of physical performance to machinery and equipment through chemistry that I have ever seen. What a computer is to a manual typewriter, Duravi is to lubrication.
Considering that Duravi is a totally safe product and completely renewable through nature, it ought to be in use literally everywhere. In my shop and my business, it is. Anyone or any organization that uses lubricants with Duravi will ultimately be the victor in competition against any organization that does not. Just as typewriters basically became extinct in the mid-1980s as computers came into common use, manufacturing facilities that do not employ the technology of Duravi in their machinery will simply have production costs too high to be competitive. Prior to implementing Duravi Grease, the Mill’s Lab tested the product to see how well it would hold up and help establish an appropriate PM based on performance. The Lab filled a housed bearing with Duravi Grease and applied 600°F to the bearing for a 24-hour period. Duravi Grease had an approximate 5% run-out and 0 solidification after cooling, with the grease remaining in its original state. The lab tech had never had a grease perform this well or even come close. After the heat test, the lab performed a water emulsification and washout test. Duravi Grease again outperformed all other greases with 0 washout and 0 emulsification, proving results that had never been seen. The tube mill implemented the use of Duravi Grease in November 2021 on the tube draw bench bearings.
Since treating the Timken NA483SW bearings one time with Duravi Grease NILG2 in November of 2021, the mill has not lost a draw bench wheel bearing and continues to run smoothly. Each Timken bearing costs approximately $2,500, and the downtime and maintenance personnel costs created an estimated cost savings of $109,536.00.
